Because it’s so late at night and I am wiped out from work today, I’ll try to post as much as I can without getting to dull (which means short and sweet, yes? Yes.).
Work – Has been great so far this summer! I was promoted, which means more responsibility, which is great, because it means they trust me with more than just the easy stuff (prep, salads, soups, desserts) and the occasional times when they would show me how to do something important, like an entree or a special. Now, I get to do all the entrees and specials! Which is a big step in my culinary career, because if they trust me enough to do that, then I know they will recommend me to another restaurant so I can get more experience and work in a new environment. I also know they will recommend me because they told me they would. So that’s a thing.
Also about work, a guy proposed to his girlfriend last night and she said yes! So we all applauded from the kitchen and laughed and smiled. It was just a nice moment. Something I’ve realized about work this summer is that I’m a lot more comfortable in the kitchen, both with cooking and with interacting with people. That could be just the combination of confidence that came from the large event at Cornell that I helped organize and run, or from the cooking class I just took, or from just being more confident in general. I don’t know, but I like that I’m not really shy any more in the kitchen. It’s really helpful and quite frankly, much more fun.
Social – I saw Amy a few days ago for the first time since January! It was great to catch up and talk about the past semester, enjoy a meal together, mock each other, and swap relationship stories. Hers are interesting… I won’t share them here to preserve her modesty, although they are incredibly fun to listen to and tell. Amy, if you read this, then you know what I am talking about :D.
On a note from that, Amy still thought I was dating Madison, so I explained to her that situation and told her about Alyx, and told some stories about Alyx and I, to which she smiled and said, without ever meeting her, that we were cute together. Which I also have to agree with. Alyx and I haven’t really gone more than a day without talking to each other, which has been nice. One more month.
Any way, time for me to sleep because I have a big day tomorrow! I’ll tell you about it in a future post with pictures :)
That’s all for now!
I’ll See You,
