Hey guys! Two things are happening in League right now: first of all, Rose started playing (a few games every now and then) and second of all, Fred is on the road to level 30 (he’s level 29 now and closing fast).
Hence I bring you tales from the Fields of Justice. Our first tale is one featuring my smurf account, GeorgeQuentin, playing with Rose.
You can learn a lot about a person from champion select in blind pick. You really can. There are the morons who write their desired position over and over. There are the easygoing, friendly types who say “fill” or agree to change if you call a position seconds after they’ve picked it. But the true scum of the earth are the instalockers – those who choose a champ, lock in, and then call position.
Rose and I had a match with just such a person. This Leaguer (Endf3rn0) decided that she would lock in Ashe just as Rose was calling ADC and I was calling support. I told her to go mid, but she refused – not that it would have done much good anyway. So I moved to jungle (as Fiddlesticks) instead, and told Ashe and Rose (as Corki) to duo ADC bot lane.
It went… about as expected. Ashe kept dragging bot into danger, and would then run away quickly and leave Rose to get killed. Then she’d accuse Rose of feeding. By now, though, most of the team was pretty sick of her. Meanwhile, I was figuring out Fiddlesticks, who I’d never played before. His drain was strong, so I realized jungling was very easy with him – no wonder I always get picked off when there’s an enemy Fiddle.
After a few successful ganks on top lane, I was up a few kills. On the other hand, we were facing a fed Jinx and a reasonably fed Master Yi. After my jungle item I was building only AP, so my armor was minimal, and Jinx was shredding me. To make matters worse, Jinx was facing no pressure on bot as Ashe had – to the team’s dismay – completely abandoned her lane.
I decided to return to my true calling and support as best I could. But upon my arrival at bot lane I found enemies at low health, so my attempt at supporting actually resulted in a beautiful ult and a double kill for me. With Corki at my side, we stormed the lane and almost took the enemy inhibitor turret.
Ashe, meanwhile, was dying over and over – at this point she had gotten a reputation, and the team really didn’t like her. Fortunately, our Renekton was strong enough to push turrets, so we managed to push all the way to their nexus – but our team was killed before we could end the game.
The enemy team charged. I saw Corki and Ashe come up and figured they could defend the base; then I teleported in to where our minions were hovering outside their base. I charged the nexus solo, draining off health from an enemy minion, and took out the nexus with an agonizingly long sequence of basic attacks – which the enemy team apparently failed to notice, or perhaps they were too excited about taking down our inhibitors.
The end result, of course: we won. And everyone reported Ashehole.
As always, thanks for reading!
