Apart from Kieran down south, I’m experiencing the best weather out of any of our writers right now (unless the Academy has had a weirdly warm morning!). It snowed a lot last week (even shutting Penn down for a day – I was pretty shocked, but I guess the Mid-Atlantic states really don’t know how to handle snow) but now things seem to be warming up and the snow seems to be melting.
Meanwhile, due to no Friday classes, the day off last week, and Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, I haven’t gone to classes for more than two days in a row so far. This week is my first “full” four-day week – and at the end of it, Rose is coming to visit me! I’m very excited! So no matter how hard my 9am classes are to wake up for this week, I know I have Rose’s lovely face to look forward to seeing on Thursday!
As for now, I’m just hanging out – I have a bunch of work from classes so far, and a quiz on Thursday to study for! I have most of my books for classes, and yesterday was a good day of work (I didn’t play even a single game of League, so it was really productive!) so I’m actually ahead of schedule on work. My classes have had some awesome assignments so far – my ancient history courses have really interesting assigned readings, and for my screenwriting class I had to read the screenplay for Rocky, then watch the movie. It’s a classic, and absolutely awesome, so basically the best homework assignment possible. I really like that class – it’s a lot of fun and not a lot of work, but still I feel like I’m learning a lot of valuable information about how to write a screenplay (Rocky, while being fun to watch, also provides a really good model for quick establishment of character in just a few scenes).
For the rest of the day I will probably finish up homework and get back to writing – I have a major noveling project in progress which should be completed in just a few days!
As always, thanks for reading.
