I don’t quite know why I chose that to be the title of this post, I guess I just really like the word “quirks”. Has a cool ring to it. Well, anyway, this will be a short post so I can get back to writing my “Year in Review” post. I wanted to go over what I have been doing for the past few days, which has mainly included studying Java programming, cooking, and playing League. I’m level 22 now! Only 8 more to go before I can join the Cornell team! Which will be exciting.
Cooking adventures! I made a lasagna the other day for the first time. You’d think that in my life I would have made one by now, but I guess not. Huh. Anyway, it turned out brilliantly according to my family. I don’t know how good a judge of it that is… I made truffle mac and cheese twice, both of which were incredibly different (somehow…), and I also made a lot of pasta sauce from scratch. It’s the only way to make sauce. Because you get the full effect of the process and you feel like a part of you went into it, rather than just using a jar of sauce. I went back to work at the restaurant where I work over the summer and through breaks, where I got to cook a lot more! They really are like a second family to me. I really like being there.
I’m trying to minor in computer science, so I am studying up on the Java for the class I’m taking in the Spring, which is required for the minor. I’m really excited to get back into the whole programming aspect of life; I’ve gone back through all my old programs and am really sentimental for the days when I was taking comp sci as an independent study. Ah well. I’ll get back to that point. I’m looking into jobs that include both food and programming, which aren’t that hard to find, surprisingly (or not surprisingly). Lots of inventory database companies need programmers and people to go to restaurants and set systems up. That would be so fun! Traveling around the country to new restaurants and setting up new systems? YES.
Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Icon For Hire’s new album, “Icon For Hire,” along with OneRepublic’s “Counting Stars” and Mumford & Son’s “Broken Crown” on repeat. Very catchy songs, and the album has some pretty good songs on it. I’ll do a review at some point, just remind me to do it.
Anyway, it’s late and I want to get back to the other post, so I’ll leave this here.
I’ll See You,
