Hey guys! A few updates. Nothing great, just to warn you. (Partially a lie, but we’ll get to that later.)
1. Jane’s “done.”
In an unexpected turn of events, Roomie friend Jane has declared that she is “done.” I think this means done with Fred, Victor and me. It seems that she’s convinced that we are replacing her with Rose, and is mad because we’re “replacing” and “ditching” her.
Honestly, I had no idea she minded Rose being around so much. I know she can get territorial sometimes (occasionally for reasons unclear) but she and Rose seemed to get along really well and all. She also never mentioned this to me before, and I didn’t feel like much had changed in our friendship. Obviously we didn’t see each other as much, since the swim season was over and we didn’t have meets together anymore, but I still sat with her at lunch and dinner sometimes. (When she accused me of “never inviting her to anything anymore,” I immediately pointed out that I’d invited her to Mario Kart on Saturday but she had declined because she was Skyping with her boyfriend. They’re long-distance, so they don’t see each other that much, but I still think it’s kind of unfair to be incredibly mad at me for spending more time with Rose right after she ditched Mario Kart to do that. But do I want to bring that up? No. She’ll just yell at me.)
The problem with Jane when she gets angry like this is that she refuses to listen to any logical argument. Instead, she lets her emotions completely control the way she thinks, which makes it impossible to discuss the situation with her. So, basically, I made no progress when I tried to talk to her about it yesterday (and I did actually try to apologize and explain my side, to no avail.) For example, when I said “I’ve been busy,” as an explanation to why she hasn’t seen me at dinner as much (true: I’ve been lifeguarding, writing for the school paper, and working on my final paper for English, along with other commitments in the evenings) she said “yeah, busy watching Doctor Who and going to the lake and going shopping with Fred and Rose…” (count: one episode since break ended, two visits to the lake: both when she had sports practice, and one Sunday shopping when I thought she was working…) I think that kind of assumption is unfair, when I actually had a real justification for not being around. I haven’t been “replacing” Jane with Rose and I haven’t been intentionally ignoring her, I just think that we haven’t run into each other as much as we normally do.
The band, which has been rehearsing quite frequently for a few days now, is performing in a concert tomorrow! Guess what the best part is? I GET TO ORGANIZE THE CONCERT. I am being sarcastic. This is the worst thing ever. Fortunately, people are being cooperative, but this is a ridiculous amount of setup to do in, like, two days. Add this on to my normal homework load and you end up with “Sleep? What is sleep?”
3. FINAL ENGLISH PAPER: PROGRESS!!!!
This is the week’s big news. Actually, no, for me this is almost the MONTH’s big news. I have not written a word for this f***ing paper since MARCH, people. Finally – FINALLY – I’m actually getting some damn work done. Now I have four pages! (That’s half the required length of this lovely analytical paper. Oh joy.)
4. I GOT SLEEP LAST NIGHT I ACTUALLY GOT SLEEP AND I ACTUALLY FEEL WELL-RESTED WHAT THE HELL IS THIS I HAVE ENERGY HOLY CRAP THIS IS FREAKING AWESOME I SHOULD DO THIS ALL THE TIME
Okay, readers, I’m off to dinner and lifeguarding. As always, thanks for reading!
