So for one reason or another I have watched a bunch of movies lately, between the all-nighter, some family movie nights, and the break allowing me to go to a movie today! Anyway, here are some quick reviews. I’ll rate out of 10 stars.
The Amazing Spider-Man (9)
See previous post for a review.
No Country For Old Men (9)
This movie combines profundity with action brilliantly, and with suPERB acting to boot. It’s creepy, sad, exciting, and heartbreaking throughout its two-hour length (not too long for all that happens). Really, really good. You won’t regret watching.
American Pie: Band Camp (5)
Okay, this one disappointed me. Even at 5am it wasn’t all that funny. It has redeeming moments, but ultimately is disappointing and a let-down for the series.
Stranger Than Fiction (7)
Solidly humorous. Will Ferrell. A little long for the story, seemed a little drawn-out. The acting was good, though, so it ended up being a pretty good movie.
It falls short of it’s sequel, but Blade is great. Wesley Snipes kills vampires, mostly with a sword. Just plain awesome.
The Cabin in the Woods (8)
I have to admit, this movie was a great take on the horror genre. Alternately classic and renovated, which was a cool concept. Definitely watch this one if you have the chance, it’ll entertain you more than a typical horror movie if you’re anything like me.
Life of Pi (8)
I hate to say it, but after all the hype this was actually a disappointment. Still a good movie, but I was expecting something a bit closer to perfection. I loved the tiger and the special effects in general, but the pacing and story at the end got… whacky. Still worth the watch, but I found it a bit of a let-down.
As always, thanks for reading.
P.S. Victor, loving the photos. Keep them coming! I’m enjoying visiting Sweden vicariously through you.
P.P.S. My brother and I logged a few hours on FIFA ’10 today. It was a lot more fun than I expected… I might be a little bit addicted.
P.P.P.S. Family vacation starts on Tuesday! I’ll post some pictures when we get to our destination.
