Overheard at today’s meet, as the 3-hour break between preliminaries and finals was coming up:
Swimmer #1: “Dude, I can’t wait to get off this deck. I’m going to nap.”
Swimmer #2: “Yeah, I feel you. I kinda want to shower.”
Swimmer #3: “Guys.”
Swimmer #1: “Oh, hey. Ready for the break?”
Swimmer #3: “Cocaine.”
Swimmer #2: “Did he just say-”
Swimmer #3: “Guys, cocaine.”
I’m really not sure WHAT to make of all that, but someone should probably keep an eye out for Swimmer #3. Anyway, championships are going well. Girl 1 and Jane have done unusually well today (as for one swim in particular: holy SHIT) but I haven’t done too well. I went out too fast in my race and, though my time wasn’t too bad, pretty much blew it. I’m fine with that, since I already did a good time this season, but it’s a little disappointing.
Both boys and girls teams are doing really well. Lots of great swims across the board. It’s an awesome meet to be watching. I’m really proud of all our swimmers, especially because of the fact that our bench was EMPTY for the last four events or so – everyone was up cheering for their teammates. That kind of thing is just plain awesome.
Short post for now, maybe more later? I’m exhausted (been up since 6:30, didn’t sleep all that well last night, and the meet was quite draining!) so I’m going to take a nap. As always, thanks for reading!
